  • The applied initial deformations do not make any visible changes to the mesh in the Mechanical model. Mechanical will not know about the new node positions, so all results will be plotted on the mesh in its original shape. Force and moment reactions will be consistent with the updated geometry.

  • Care should be taken when using the “Use UPGEOM command = Yes” as this may add elements created for loading purposes in the source analysis. E.g. surface effect elements used to apply pressure. (Use “Applied By = Direct” to apply pressure direct on the nodes.) See the Ansys MAPDL help section on the command “UPGEOM” for more information.
